History

Health Care Credit Union was incorporated in 1960 as the Mercy Hospital Credit Union. That common bond has grown over the years to include all workers in any area of health care or related fields that live in or work in Winnebago County, Wisconsin. In addition, HCCU serves the employees of Sacred Heart/St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, as well as a number of select employer groups. With additions and changes throughout the years, however, HCCU continued as a “closed charter” credit union in that only health care workers, related employee groups, and their families were eligible for membership.

When incorporated in 1960, then Mercy Hospital Credit Union, operated out of a small office located within Mercy Hospital. As the credit Union grew, it expanded to an outside office at 401A Otter Avenue. In 1983, when that building was sold, HCCU moved its Main Office to 600 South Main Street in Oshkosh. The credit union’s current location can be found at 429 North Sawyer Ave. Oshkosh.

While our roots run deep in the health care industry, Health Care Credit Union opened our charter effective December 6, 2018 to anyone living or working in Winnebago, Fond du Lac or Outagamie counties. With the open charter brings new possibilities and our ability to better serve our members and our communities.
